George Lambert Blamires

George Lambert Blamires, son of Lambert Blamires and Rhoda Jane Bone, was born 23 December 1887 at Kaysville, Davis County, Utah. He was baptized 6 June 1897 at Kaysville by William Blood and confirmed by John R. Barnes. He was ordained an Elder by Lawrence B. Blood on 12 April 1908, a Seventy by Melvin J. Ballard on 12 Feb 1928, a High Priest by Joshua F. Conrad on 6 Oct 1948. He was set apart as one of the Seven Presidents of the 55th Quorum of Seventies on 11 July 1940. He received his endowments in the Salt Lake Temple on 25 Nov 1908. His Patriarchal blessing was given by Charles Cottrell Sr. on 17 Jun 1918. He left 1 Dec 1908 to serve in the Swiss German Mission and returned on 1 Dec 1911.

He was married to Nettie Alberta Cottrell in the Salt Lake Temple on 7 May 1913 by Alvin F. Smith. He died 4 November 1953 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah and was buried in Kaysville on 7 Nov 1953.

He attended Kaysville public schools and Kaysville Academy. He was a farmer. He lived on the farm where he was born until he left for a mission. After two years and two (probably seven) months he returned and lived in his parents home a year and 7 months, his parents having moved from the farm while he was away to a home in town. When he married he returned to the farm and remained there until his death 4 November 1953

He was a missionary to the Swiss and German mission. Left home 1 December 1908 and arrived home 11 August 11, 1911. Served as 2nd counselor in the Presidency of the Young Mens Mutual Improvement Association of the Kaysville Ward, Davis Stake from 1911 to 192. Served home mission from Mar 1912 to September 1912. Served a Stake mission at one time years later. He was one of the 55th Quorum of Seventies seven presidents from 11 July 1940 to 10 Oct 1948. At the time of his death he was a counselor in the Kaysville 2nd Ward Genealogical committee. He was active in choir work all his life. He was blessed with a good tenor voice and had a great love for good music. While serving on his mission he made use of every opportunity to attend operas and go through Art Galleries. He traveled in France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria and England.

He did Temple work for many years. He had a very good knowledge of the Gospel, being a constant reader of the scriptures and other church works.

George Lambert Blamires was ordained a Seventy on 12 Feb 1928 by Melvin J. Ballard who was ordained a Seventy 6 Jul 1896 by Elder John Henry Smith who was ordained a Seventy by Pres. Joseph Young May 1874 who was ordained a Seventy by Joseph Smith, Sidney Rigdon and Oliver Cowdery who were ordained to the Melchezedek Priesthood by Peter, James and John in 1829 who were ordained by Jesus Christ.
