Thanks to my Aunt Kathy who sent me this record today. As you can see Mary Kershaw's signature is written as "Mary Kershaw Mark X". This means she could not read or write and simply made her mark. Richard spells his last name with a y (Blaymires--which seems more accurate with the way it's pronounced).
Pictures, Histories and Documents for our Family History. If you have more to add to this blog, please email me at heartsturnedtofathers@gmail.com. I would love for this to be a complete collection that many could enjoy!

West Yorkshire England
West Yorkshire, England. Home to the Kershaw and Blamires Families.
In Mary Kershaw's cemetery record it lists her birth place as Warley, England. Warley is near Halifax in WEST Yorkshire.
Lambert Blamires, son of Mary Kershaw was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England.
The County Yorkshire West Riding was abolished in 1974 and broken into West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, and Humberside. Our Kershaw and Blamires would be from the present day West Yorkshire. Warley is roughly 8 miles from Bradford.
Bradford will be in the Bradford Parish and Warley in the Halifax Parish. I am hoping to do some research in these Parish records.

History of Mary Kershaw Blamires Boynton
Mary Kershaw Blamires Boynton, born February 26, 1829 , in Yorkshire , England , was the daughter of Titus and Harriet Pickles Kershaw. We do not know anything of her young life, but in due time she married Richard Blamires, whose occupation was that of a fancy stone cutter and architect. To this union eight children were born.
Mary joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the year 1853. When she stepped into the waters of baptism she was lame, but came out healed, of which she bore strong testimony. All her children who were old enough were baptized before leaving England . She was a member of the church for sixteen years before coming to America . The older members of the family worked in the foundry after they were twelve years of age to help the family income, as was the custom in those days. The Blamires’ home was a gathering place for young people. They enjoyed themselves in singing and playing different kinds of instruments.
