Snuff Box of Family Lore

There has been a rumor about an ivory snuff box that has been passed down in the family.  The rumor has it that the Hall line (Edward Hall Crockett) descends from a Scottish heiress who left her fortune to marry.  She took her jewels and when she left she sold them.  The only thing she didn't sell was the ivory snuff box.

I have tracked down the snuff box and while it doesn't have the Hall family coat of arms like the family story says, but it is still very beautiful.

The box is currently in the possession of Rhonda Knighton, a descendant of Sarah Rogers Crockett. In an email from her cousin, Alice Knighton Miller, it says, "Rhonda Knighton received the box as a girl when she was about 12 years old from her and my Grandmother Doris Alice Cottrell Knighton. She said that it is the size of a pocket watch. She scanned the top and bottom box. She didn’t take a profile picture. The top is slightly curved and is well worn as you can see in the scanned picture document she made to share. The snuff box was kept in the watch box that is also in the scan. She thinks she heard that Sarah Rogers brought it from England but really can’t be sure of that as fact. It appears to be made from mother of pearl, but is very worn."
