From the comments: My mother is Lois Layton, daughter of Russell Bowler Layton, son of Timothy James Layton son of Charles Layton. Grandpa gave my the picture in 1983. He told me and it was written on the back, that it was a picture of Grandma Bathsheba Layton Denton and an unknown granddaughter. I don't know what year it was taken but I'm guessing @ 1861 before she died.
NOTE: Bathsheba signs her name as Sheba.
And letters written to Charles Layton and Elizabeth (hie first wife) by Bathsheba and Nathaniel Denton. Two letters, two pages each.
